Puri Tour

The most blessed pilgrim center for Hindus in India, Puri is known as the Jagannath (the Lord of Universe) in the world. It has credited with the well-known Jagannath temple that belongs to the coast of Bay of Bengal in the state of Orissa in India.

Puri is an array of art and architecture of India, especially that of Orissa. It is a great symbol of our historical and cultural edifices dating back to 3rd century B.C. to 17th century A.D. The golden triangle of Orissa includes Konark, Bhuvaneshwar and Puri that has majestic history, heritage renowned worshipping shrines.

There are many major attractions nearby Puri include the Chilka Lake, salt-water lagoon, Puri beach, Gundicha Ghar and the Chilika Wildlife Sanctuary. Other than that, it has various other tourists visit attractions like Temple of Child Krishna at Indradyumna Tank, Markandeswar tank, the Museum and Sudarshan Workshop and Atharnala Bridge.

Sun temple of Konark is one of the famous attractions in the close proximity of less than an hour journey. One will see the major celebration in Puri is Rath Yathra (Car/ Chariot festival) held in every year. This Car festival is celebrated during June – July period associated with the Jagannath temple.

Apart from it, it also has its roots in an emerging industrial area having major industries like rice milling, handicrafts and fish curing.

Puri has a mesmerizing history that involves myths and facts in wonderful harmony. During pre historic times, Puri was inhabited by the Sabaras belonging to the Pre Aryans.

During the 12th century after the establishment of the Purusottam temple in 1135, Puri gained the status of a religious center. The well-known saint Sri Ramanuja is known to have stayed here during 1107 to 1117. Among all, the rule of the Ganga dynasty was one of the most powerful powers in that time period.

During their sovereignty the state of Orissa, this city was divided into three revenue collecting circar, wherein Puri was part of the Kataka Circar. Puri was declared as a part of Orissa in 1948.

Travel within city

There are lots of means of transportation which are available in Puri, and the main ones among these are cycle rickshaws, auto rickshaws and rented motorbikes.

Cycle Rickshaw
The most preferred mode of transport is Cycle rickshaws are prevalent in Puri. Although, it is quite slow but still has ample time in your hands.

Auto Rickshaw
One can opt for auto rickshaws that are not run on meter in this city. Travelling through an auto rickshaw is actually very safe through which you can reach your destination faster this way.

Rented Motorbike
You can hire a motorbike in order to roam around Puri, and this can give an adventurous streak to your trip.
