Ooty is referred as the Queen of hill stations and it also known as Ootacamund. It is the capital of Nilgiris district and become the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means Blue Mountains which represents as a symbol of Lord Shiv. Ooty is famous picturesque picnic spot mostly used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. It is located at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.

The history of the Nilgiri Mountain goes back to many centuries. Generally, it has not much information is available. The name ‘Blue Mountain with the smoky mist present in the area, while some are of the opinion that the blue Karunji flower, is the reason behind it.
The Old Ooty has some historical connections with the Toda tribes. It is believed that the Todas passed over that part of Ooty to Mr. John Sullivan, the ten governor of Coimbatore, in order to enlarge the town.
