The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
The ultimate national park is the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary having exceptional ecological surroundings. This sanctuary offers tourists a fabulous variety of thousands of different birds at any given time. It is the biggest home of golden-backed woodpeckers, night herons, kingfishers, paradise fly-catchers, and egrets that covers an impressive expanse of 14 acres. He himself converted this into a bird sanctuary and today it has become the best bird sanctuaries in India. It is situated close to the Kavanar River that makes it the most fascinating in the region. It is a truly endearing spot which supports various exotic birds like parrots, cuckoos, duck, heron, waterfowl and owl.
