Devi Jagdambi Temple
Devi Jagdambi Temple is the oldest scared landscape in Khajuraho known for its erotic and intensely carved figures in India. The establishment of huge image of the goddess of the Universe makes it one of the most popular holy places. The height of the temple is about 100 ft high which has balanced with the support of pillars. Moreover, it is adorned with number of huge sculptures of the goddess of the Universe posing in different styles.
This shrine is divided into southern and northern portions that portray the most erotic sculptures. Devi Jagdambi Temple is famous for its huge shrine, Garbha Griha that houses the image of goddess of the Universe, Jagdambi. The place is dotted with attractive carved with various figures. Further, it is referred to as a delicately balanced temple. According to the Indian mythologists, this shrine is purely dedicated to Lord Vishnu whgich has been represented in the form of gorgeous stone carvings at the bands of the temple.
The temple has an attractive image of Goddess Parvati, along with the most talked-about image, Mithuna. It is assumed to be initially intricately carved panels with the pictures of Lord Vishnu. It also has an extra-ordinary image of the three bands of sculptures surrounded the temple.
The temple possesses a unique typical oldest architecture design, which resembles the designs used in Chitragupta Temple. The dimensions, design and decorative schemes of the temple is very similar to Chitragupta Temple which is standing on the sanctum without any passage for walking.
