Rajwada is the oldest historical palace of the Holkars known as a remarkable mansion that depicts the glory of the spectacular land. Rajwada palace in Indore is a beautifully decorated monument with different royal architectural styles. It is also assumed the oldest one that speaks edifice of a rich heritage. This palace was built about two centuries ago that boasts of seven storied structure. It locates near the Chhatris in the main square which serves as the finest example of the opulence of the Holkars. The palace consists of stone made lower stories, wooden upper stories, well-laid garden with fountains and an artificial waterfall that offers you a spectacular sight to give a unique experience to the tourists. On the other hand, the new palace is constructed on the northern side, while the old palace sets in the old part of the town. The old palace is a multi-storied building which is a gateway passes through the Rajwada. Moreover, this palace stands amongst the swarmed streets of the Kajuri Bazar.
The palace is acclaimed as the centre of all the trading activities in the city. It is a brilliant blend of Maratha, Mughal and French style of architecture. The entrance of the majestic palace houses a lofty archway with a massive wooden door that is encircled with iron studs. Moreover, it has several balconies windows and corridors. The entrance leads to a giant courtyard that is enclosed by galleried rooms and the arcaded Ganesha hall. Now, the hall has been converted into art rooms where a number of art exhibitions are arranged.
