Har Ki Pauri
Referred as one of the five main holy sites, Har Ki Pauri is the focus point of Haridwar which lies on the banks of river Ganga. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, two great Hindu Gods, emerged during Vedic era.
According to the myths, the holy footprints of Lord Vishnu are affixed on this Ghat. It is considered to be the exit point of the River Ganga where water is flowing down from the mountains and enter into the plains. It is believed that if one visit to Haridwar and take a bath into this water, a person gets relieved from all his sins.
One of the biggest attractions of this place is its ‘Aarti’ that is performed by the priests on the banks of river Ganga. Thousands of followers float Lamps on the river, immersed after the ritual at the time of “Aarti” in the evening.
It is also said that Brahma, the Hindu God of Creation, used to execute a yagna at the Har ki Pauri. Around this Pauri, several ancient and some newly build temples are located. As per the legends, the two rituals of Hindu religion are only perform on the bank of the River- 'upanayan' or the initiation ritual, 'mundan' and immersion of the ashes of the dead.
Throughout the year, Har ki pauri is always crowded with devotees and priests who call for the prayers for their healthy living. It is best scared destination in India where one can get relief to his mind, soul and body. The three phases-religions, philosophy and spiritualism are the biggest point to influence the tourists to visit. Thus, visiting to this place is a great spiritual experience where one can make himself relieved from his daily hassles.
