Kaziranga National Park
The captivating Kaziranga National Park is the largest national tiger reserve in India that is located at a distance of 200 km from Guwahati. It is the major attraction of Guwahati which attracts a large number of tourists for its unique animal and bird mix and authentic habitat. Spanned over an area of 450 sq km, this national park has the blessings of river Brahmaputra throughout the stretch.
Today, it has become the World Heritage Site especially known for breeding and habituating the one-horned rhino. The park also houses of a vast collection of shallow water fowls, pond herons, fishing eagles, the egrets, river terns, adjutant and the black necked storks etc.
It consists of dense forest, rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools. Moreover, it an ideal grazing ground for the well-known One Horned Rhinoceros. While visiting to this place, you can have an opportunity to see serene ambience near the National park located near to this sanctuary. Additionally, an Elephant Safari is the main attraction of this place on which you can take a ride to the central range of the National Park. Wildlife to be seen in the central range is Rhinoceros, Herd of wild Asiatic buffalos & Elephants, naughty Languor's and deer's, Deer, Sloth Bear, Tiger Leopard, Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat, Hog Badger, Capped Langur, Hoolock Gibbon, Jakel, Goose, Hornbill, Adjutant Stork, Ibis, Cormorant, Egret, Heron, Fishing Eagle, and a lot more.
