Capitol houses the seat of Government famed as the most attractive architectural grandeur of the planned city of Chandigarh. The Capitol complex has magnificent structure led by Le Corbusier portraying in its zenith. Initially, this complex was served as the seat only for the Govt of Punjab, but now it is converted into the headquarters of both, the Govt of Punjab and Haryana.
Generally, it has three main department of administration comprises three epoch-making master-pieces namely the Legislative Assembly, the Secretariat, and the High Court. The headquarters of this complex is in both the Punjab and the Haryana governments. This entire structure has a twofold cover, which appears like an overturned umbrella which reveals the structural brilliancy of its designer.
There was a plan to build a fourth building also, but, till yet, it has not come into existence. The three buildings of the Capitol complex could be possible to make majestically representing themselves as the temples of democracy of free India. This complex is one of the most remarkable works of Le Corbusier. Now, it serves as the seat of the government of the States of Punjab and Haryana that is separated by large piazzas, the delicate and most suggestive grouping of these buildings is of breath-taking beauty.
