The Mahabodhi Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples built in brick which is located in the east of the Bodhi Tree. It has marvelous architectural supremacy that can attract millions of people throughout the world. This fascinating temple was built on a basement of 48 square feet the height of 170 ft. There is Chatras on the top of temple which normally stands for sovereignty of religion. There are four corners which have maintained accurate balance to this scared structure.
A black stone colossal image of the Buddha in a sitting posture is situated inside this blessed destination which attracts attention of lots of visitors. Due to its sitting posture, this picture has gained more significance.
The temple has ground level is about 45 meters square which extends up in a pyramid shape that ends in a smaller square platform. There us a central tower of Mahabodhi that stands about 180 feet (54 meters) tall. Outside of the temple, there is brickwork that depicts scenes from the life of the Buddha.
Inside the temple, there is a massive image of Buddha in a sitting pose touching the earth with his right hand. It is also well-known a gesture as the earth-witness mudra. In this seated posture, the Buddha accomplished the highest illumination.
There is a big courtyard in this temple which is studded with many smaller stupas and Buddha statues. Some of them have created hundred years old and today, those painting are known as antiques.
