Deeg is a tiny city that is located once played the role of summer resort of the rulers of Bharatpur. In fact, it was famed as the second capital of the region. This city represents a massive collection of beautiful fortifications, mesmerizing gardens, crafty palaces, and a vibrant market. The Suraj Mal Haveli inside the fortress exhibits typical Bengali curved bamboo roof led by a Bengali architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya from Jaipur.
Lohagarh Fort (Iron fort)
Lohagarh Fort has been constructed by the Bharatpur Jat ruler King Suraj Mal in the early 18th century and got its name from its invincibility wherein it withstood repeated attempts by the British to conquer it. There are some monuments of Kishori and Moti Mahal and Kothi Khas are must-visit locations in this fort. The beautiful gardens in the fort represent artistic and aesthetic nature of the rulers.
