Visiting Wagah Border is just 30 Kms from Amritsar is an amazing experience for lifetime. It is often called the "Berlin wall of Asia", called the India–Pakistan Border. It is marked as international border that has an open entry gate on outpost named as The Swarna Jayanthi gate.
Wagah Border has gained a worldwide appreciation for its 'Retreat' ceremony at the time of sunset. During evening or at the time of sunset, the armed soldiers of both Indian as well as Pakistani are fully decked in their uniform bringing down of the respective flags of both countries. They enact into a line and perform a particularly hostile parade marked by waving of their respective flags till the closing border gates. The end of the ceremony is carried out with great pomp and fervor by lowering of the flags of both countries.
Thousands of tourists come here to witness the ceremonial parade. The celebration of this ceremony is for 30 minutes where the soldiers have to take their departure with the beatings of the drums and beguiles.
