Sultanpur National Park is one of the ideal destinations that attracted the domestic and international tourists for its large number of migratory birds and is regarded as birdwatcher’s paradise. The area of the park is about 359 acres, which became the bird sanctuary in 1971 and the National Park in 1991 by the Haryana Government. During the monsoon season, the park became the centre of attractions especially for ornithologists when the migratory birds visited in sizable population.
Location
Geographically, the park is located at latitude 28°37' in the North to longitude 77°04' in the east where it appears in Gurgaon district of Haryana. The capital city of India, Delhi is 50 Kms from Haryana and is well connected by the roadways to all the major locations of India.
Attractions
Sultanpur National Park is famous in the world its rarest flora and fauna. The major flora of the park includes grasses, dhok, khair, tendu, ber, jamun, acacia, and banyan tree. Whereas the major fauna of the park includes large range of birds, geese, Siberian cranes, grey lags, gadwalls, mallards, pochards, shovellers, teals, blackbuck, nilgai, hog deer, sambar, wild dog or dhole, caracal, wild cat, hedgehog, mongoose, striped hyena, Indian porcupine, leopard, wild pig, and four horned antelope.
Climate
As the State of Haryana is situated on the tropical region, so the climate is very hot during summer season and chilly during the winter season. Monsoon season appears in the month of July and continues till the mid-September. However, the best season to visit the Sultanpur National Park is in the winter season.
