Any person visiting Thanjavur should never miss to see Sangeetha Mahal that has it’s a unique importance in India. Sangeetha Mahal is situated on the first floor of the Tanjore palace. It is believed to be a musical place where the musicians and dancers performed in front of the Chola and Nayak rulers. It is an extra-ordinary masterpiece of talented craftsmanship that speaks the diversity and creativity about the ancient builders and architects.
Brahadeshwara temple was built by the Great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola. This sculpture reflects the Indian architectural brilliance, hence become a favorite pilgrimage spot for many visitors. Deep trenches are spread around this temple that is filled with water on two sides and the Grand Anaicut River on the other side.
This scared temple is a unique measuring a 216 feet tall tower over the inner shrine. One can also see many antique paintings of the Chola and the Nayak periods.
Chandra Bagawan temple
The second important navagrhangal temple is the Chandra Bagawan temple or the moon temple which is situated in and around the temple town of Thanjavur.
