Shalimar Garden is the most beautiful Garden in Srinagar famed as the monument of love. It was built by great Emperor Jahangir in 1616 for his beloved beautiful wife Nurjahan, “Light of the world". It has four terraces and impressive fountains through a canal from Harwan. One of the highest terraces is “Abode of Love" that was preserved for the king and the royal ladies. The garden is ornamented with colourful lights that look stunning at the evenings in the moon light.
Dal Lake is the most popular tourist attraction in Srinagar which has gained highest popularity by its house boats and Shikaras. It still continues count as a subject matter of number of poems and articles.
This fascinating scenic lake spans extending an area of 26 square meters that has been divided into four areas by four causeways. The lake is a main centre offering many water sports activities such as water surfing, swimming, Shikara riding, kayaking and house boating, angling and canoeing. Adventurous tourists can venture to this natural wonder and enjoy cool, natural secluded atmosphere.
Hari Parbat Fort
An ancient Mughal Fort known as Hari Parbat Fort is situated during the 18th century. This historical fort was built by an Afghan Governer, Atta Mohammad Khan. The great Mughal Emperor Akbar has a long stretch of walls around the hill that was built in 1590. Other superb attractions nearby are Lalmandi Square and Sharika Devi Temple.
