Andhra Pradesh tourism is unique for the tourists
especially when they travel to Charminar - a major landmark in
the city of Hyderabad which has become the synonym with its name
like the Statue of Liberty for New York and Kremlin for Moscow
and Taj Mahal for Agra. The Charminar was built by Muhammad Quli
Qutub Shah when he shifted his capital from Golkonda to Hyderabad
as a great tribute to aesthetics looks. Charminar is romantic
edifice of architectural eminence built upon four grand arches
facing North, South, East and West. At all these four corners
of the square there is a minaret rising to a height of 24 meters
which combinedly made the building nearly 54 meters tall! It
is because of these four tall minarets, the name has been given
Charminar which is derived from two words "Char" which means "four" and "minar" which
means "minarets".
