The Ridge road
The Ridge road is a large open space located in the heart of Shimla offering a panoramic view of the mountain peaks of Shimla. It is the most sought attraction of shimla dotted with church, library and many statues. It has always been one of the most popular tourist destinations of this hill station. On the eastern side of this road, Lakkar Bazaar, a wooden crafts market is seen. There is a large water reservoir that acts as the main water supply in and around the city.
The Ridge is a touching point of Mall Road, Lakkar Bazaar, Scandal Point, US Club and Jakhu and offers great sightseeing of this city. From the top of it, one will view the age old Christ Church, designed in Neo-Gothic style of architecture and the new Tudor library. These two milestones are the main attractions of shimla which flocks tourists from all over the world. The three statues on the ridge are stated on this road- Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Dr. Y.S. Parmar, the first chief minister of Himachal Pradesh.
The Ridge road is also famous for summer festival for local celebrations during the New Year's Eve. The famous Summer Festival is organized near the Ridge every year. People celebrating this festival with lots of joy and fervor, not only this, it welcomes people from far and wide. That time, the climate was also very cool and pleasure which has added more interest of the tourists gathered around. The ridge is decorated with lights and candle-lamps during this summer festival and one can a vast range of mouth-watering food.
