Orchha is the most prominent destination which is gracefully positioned against the river banks of river Betwa in the Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. To get a more precise idea, it is around 16 km from Jhansi. Orchha is worth a visit, established in 16th century by a Bundela Rajput named Rudra Pratap Singh, this medieval town is exquisitely well preserved till now and. This exclusive town showcases royal glory of the legendary Bundela dynasty via its temples and architectural edifices. The town is exceptionally fringed with mesmerizing hills and foliage. Orchha is exceptionally replete with royal temples, imperial forts and palaces, moats with bridges and much more fascinating sites. The palaces and forts exclusively exhibit the royal grandeur and still retained their original opulence therefore some of them seem to have frozen in time. This small farming town has been adorned with various edifices some of which are: Fort Complex: The fort complex is the one of the most prominent destination of Orchha and consists of three major palaces inside namely Raj Mahal, Jehangir Mahal and Rai Parveen Mahal. The Raj Mahal was erected in 17th century by an extremely pious predecessor of Bir Singh Ju Deo - Madhukar Shah. The palace showcases simple exteriors but has colourful and vibrant interiors exquisite murals and religious themes. Jahangir Mahal has been built in the commemoration of Jahangir’s visit to Orchha in the 17th century. It exclusively exhibits the artistic brilliance of the time by delicate chhatris and trellis work. Ram Raja temple: This temple is the dominant attractions of the place around which the Orchha seems to revolve. The temple is devoted to lord Ram and it is believed that the idols that are placed in this temple were meant to be placed in the Chaturbhuja temple. But the idols were hard to move therefore a substitute temple was built with a courtyard, tiled with colourful marbles which is now known as Ram raja temple. Chaturbhuja Temple: the temple is elegantly placed on a massive platform and used steps to reach the temple. The temple is exquisitely adorned with Lotus emblems and other symbols carrying religious significance. Laxminarayan Temple, Phool Bagh, Sunder Mahal, Cenotaphs grouped along the Kanchan Ghat are other attractions that should not be missed while visiting this place. The temples are the most unusual temples in all of India. The verbal description of their beauty and grandeur is just not feasible. One should definitely witness its ineffable beauty.
