The vast subcontinent of India is broadly divided into four zones - north India, south India, west India and east India. The north India comprises of all those states of India which are nestled in the non-peninsular regions - Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarachal - including the areas of Vindhya Mountains, Narmada River and Mahanadi River etc.
