Vivekananda Rock Memorial
Vivekananda Rock Memorial is one of the most scared landscapes in the southern part of India. Located in Kanyakumari, this fort stands on top of a two rocks approximately 500 meters off the island. Vivekananda Rock Memorial is open everyday to all the visitors and catches them constantly. This holy place was built with a merger of traditional as well as up to date architectural styles of India. Moreover, one can find a life size statue of Swami Vivekananda that has been established inside the memorial. According to the Hindu mythology, the rock has always been assumed as holy. It is believed that Goddess Devi Kumari has blessed the rock with the touch of her sacred feet. It is therefore famed as 'Sripada Parai'. In fact, a continuously projection on the rock has been working since many years that resembles a human foot. It is brownish in color which is regarded as Sri Padam.
The memorial boasts of two main structures known as the hripada Mandapam and the Vivekananda Mandapam. The Shripada Mandapam is considered as the main sanctum sanctorum encircled by an outer platform. The Vivekananda Mandapam also consists of meditation hall known as Dhyana Mandapam where one can sit, relax and meditate over here. Further, this complex has very calm and serene atmosphere. At the upper level of this complex, one can check out the breath taking view of the merging of the three major water bodies namely Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
