History
It is a very spiritual town that is based on various mythological myths. It was the great hub of trade and commerce under the rule of the Cholas, the Cheras, the Pandayas and the Nayaks. During the Travancore time period, the city saw a potential to raise exclusively, both, socially and economically. The people of Christianity came to Kanyakumari during 52 AD, with St. Thomas, who was famed as twelve Apostles of Christ.

The reason behind the defeat of the Dutch is the battle that was held between between the Dutch East India Company and Maharaja Marthanda Varma. After dropping the rule of Pandya kings, Kanyakumari came under the rule of the British and remained so till India’s independence in 1947.

Travel within city
If we talk about its transportation, so travelling around Kanyakumari is relatively easy. One will find many modes of travel available, and buses, auto rickshaws and hired vehicles are the most preferred ones.

Bus
Buses in kanyakumari tend to be very crowded normally but the cheaper mode of travel ranging around Rs 4 to 10, depending on the distance involved. However, Buses in this city are the preferred local mode of transport.

Auto Rickshaw
Another mode of transport in this city is auto rickshaws that would be the most preferred source to reach at many destinations. The best thing about it is that there are no separate night fares of travelling.
