Jodhpur is renowned as a second largest city in the northern Indian

Jodhpur, the golden city of Rajasthan has a very interesting history that goes back to the 1100 C.E. At that time, the city was under the rule of the Gurjara-Pratihara Empire that was formally founded by Rao Jodha, a chief in the Rathore Clan of Rajputs, in the year 1459.
Rao Jodha made Jodhpur his capital, a beshub of a wide range of trading items such as opium, silk, copper, date palms, coffee and sandals. This was the perfect time when Maharaja Jaswant Singh gained importance as a prestigious post by the Mughals.
Meanwhile, the city has gained maximum exposure with Mughal art and architecture mixing styles. However, his death in 1707 signed the last days of Mughal rule in Jodhpur and the city went back into the hands of the rightful Rajputana rulers.
