Jaigarh Fort is located on the majestic Chilh-ka-Tola about 15 Km away from Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is acclaimed as one of the most well organized structures in India spreading over a vast expansion of three kilometers. Sawai Singh of Jaipur was constructed the magnificent fort in 1726 in order to tighten the security of Amber and Jaipur.
Initially, it was served as the treasury of the royal family of Jaipur. But today, it becomes a most popular tourist site named as Jaigarh Fort that not only captivate the local citizens but also lures all the visitors visiting around the world.
Originally, the fort was built by The Rajput. It is believed to be the largest site in the world that is used for a single time in the long history of India. It houses two entry points to this mighty fortress called Doongar darwaza and Awani darwaza. Diya Burj,Vijay Garh and the palace complex are the other prominent structures of the fort. Further, the palace complex is must-visit site to watch spectacle with its magnificent design.
The main attractions of the fort are colossal Cannon, reinforcement museum, palaces, temples and the magnificent water tanks. Canon is amongst one of the best attraction of the fort. It is considered to be the largest cannon in the world that was deliberately located to protect fire from the enemies or the attackers to the fort.
Apart from it, There is a museum in the Fort has which has a vast collection of antique coins, photographs, weapons and the articles of royal rulers. There are the royal chairs and some instrument in it which are now converted in the Shubhat Niwas of the meeting Hall of Warriors. Additionally, it has three water tanks which were used to harvest water containing the capacity of storing 60, 00,000 gallons of water. The main advantage of the fort is that it discloses the mastery over architecture of the former age by having many wide water channels, which were included as a part of a rainwater harvesting system.
