Indore is a very interesting city that is situated in the splendid Narmada river valley, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is well-known is for its magnificent temples and ancient monuments. History
It has a famous ancient history which is strived between the Mughals, Marathas and the British in order to gain control over the city.
According to records of the historians, Rao Nandlal Choudhary was the founder who was a Zamindar. In present situation, the name ‘Indore’ converts into being after the Zamindar and established his center there thus, giving it the name Indrapur.
The Marathas lost the battle but gained control over Indore against the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali. However, his control did not ever-lasting and they had to surrender to the British in order to get peace. Then, The British passed over the reign of the city to the rulers of the Holkar dynasty, under the leadership of Maharaja Malhar Rao Holkar.
Soon after independence, Indore along with several cities was incorporated to form the Madhya Bharat. However, on November 1st 1956, the city has declared to be part of the present day Madhya Pradesh by the government of India.
Travel within city
Travelling in and around Indore is pretty easy. There are some many options for travelling through buses, cabs and auto rickshaws to travel within the city.
Bus
The most famous mode is bus that ply to all parts of the city including all the major and minor areas in the region. It has quite cheap rates as compare to other transport.
Auto Rickshaw
Auto rickshaws are available in Indore in order to visit many destinations. Auto rickshaw fares may range from Rs 20 to 100, as per the distance involved. No separate night fares are included and considered a safe mode of travel during night time.
Taxi
The charges of Cabs in Indore are Rs 10 per kilometer, and a minimum of Rs 35 as the starting rate.
