Cordial working relations of Indian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabian Embassy in India are the result of Indo-Saudi relations which developed during the Prime Ministership of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1950s. From the strategic point of view, Embassy of India and Embassy of Saudi Arabia share the desire for political stability which also constitutes the immediate neighborhood separated only by the Arabian Sea. That is why India Embassy enjoys preeminent position in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The relations between Indian Embassy and Saudi Embassy reached to its apex in 2006 when India invited King Abdullah as the Chief Guest of Republic Day celebrations. Besides all the above, many agreements have been signed between the Indian Embassy and Saudi Embassy to strengthen the relations between India and Saudi Arabia. Indian Embassy is also maintaining special agreement with Saudi Arabia relating to arrangements for transportation and accommodation of Haj Pilgrims as India is sending one of the largest contingents of Haj pilgrims.
