Chittorgarh Tour

Chittorgarh is an old city as an embodiment of Rajput tradition mixed with romance and courage which has its administrative head quarters of Chittorgarh District in Rajasthan. It has Mythological background depicting its audacious history about its construction and built by the Pandava warrior Bhima.

The legendary bravery story of the gorgeous princess Padmini was associated with the history of Chittorgarh. Due to the fame of Rani Padmini, the beauty made the sultan to finally conquer over Rajputs in Chittorgarh. It is heard that after falling of the Kingdom, Padmini led all the women to a huge pyre, performing Sathi.

The main gateway of the Chittorgarh is highly appealing with seven huge entries, namely Bhairon Pol, Lakshman Pol, Padan Pol, Hanuman Pol, Jorla Pol, Ganesh Pol and the main royal gate known as Ram Pol. Sone of the major attractions in Chittorgarh are Chittorgarh fort, Kithi Stamb, Victory tower or Vijay Stambh, Rani Padmini’s Palace, Rana Kumbha’s Palace and many other beautiful imposing temples of great past. Moreover, there are so many nice wild life sanctuaries in its breast attracting wild life lovers and nature lovers.

History
Chittorgarh has in its strong history this brilliant story beauty, love, grace and bravery. This city was considered one of the most powerful cities in the Rajput kingdom and was the seat of the Sisodia kings in the 8th century, who received the town as a gift after the king’s marriage to the last Solanki princess.

During 8th century to the 16th, the city was ruled under the Bappa Rawal's descendants. The chronological history of Chittorgarh rotates mainly around the tales of Rani Padmini. The history of Chittorgarh remains incomplete without discussing about Maharan Pratap Singh, who gave a very tough time to the Mughals. He tackled the Akbar’s Mughal army in 1576 at Haldighat. When the battle was ended in a deadlock, Maharan Pratap fought guerilla wars for the next 20 years, giving a tough time to the Mughals. He became a very popular king as he vowed not to sleep on bed, eat from metal utensils and nor live in palaces, in order to regain his pride.

Travel within city
Chittorgarh is a small town but represents our rich heritage culture that is located around 60 km the city of Udaipur. One of the best options to travel to the fort is to hire a cab from Udaipur. There are a plenty of services which from Udaipur which has reasonable fares.
