A scenic spot, Rock Garden is a sprawling amusement kingdom lying in Chandigarh with a rare scenario. Rock Garden spreads over an expanse of 64 acres representing abundant of sculptures linked by walled paths and deep gorges. This garden is built by transforming into art, discarded tube lights, rusting oil drums, broken tiles, shattered china and sanitary ware, glass bangles, unused building material, discarded street lights, burnt bricks etc.
Discovered by Nek Chand, a former Road Inspector in Chandigarh, Rock Garden has fantastic 14 chambers with a waterfall, puddles, statues of animals, birds highlights the value of materials many people consider trash.
The Rock Garden Chandigarh is designed to meet the needs of the tourists and it look like a lost kingdom. The creation of rock garden is in chorological order including paths, gateways, steps, waterfalls, courtyards, porches and buildings. In the second phase, a large waterfall, a canal, an open air theatre, a miniature village was established into it. This garden has architectural interactive spaces which are used to perform many plays, dance and music performances.
There are approximately 5,000 sculptures in this garden. Each has its distinct approach kept a hidden story into it.
