The Ajanta Caves is covered with 30 rocks cut Bhuddhist caves located 106 km from Aurangabad. The fundamental style of design the caves are called ‘Chaitya grihas’ and ‘Viharas’. There are Buddhist five cathedrals caves and the remaining 25 are monasteries.
The Chaityas are big in size, rectangular chambers divided by rows of pillars. They are ornamented by statues and murals portraying the many incarnations of Buddha.
The Vhharas are in the shape of rectangular shaped halls which are attached on both sides in a series of small cells. There is a picture of Buddha is place just opposite to the entrance.
The Ellora Caves are to-ranted listed in the world-heritage list in the world. They are situated about 30 km from Aurangabad. Here, the prime attraction of these caves is The Kailash Temple that is the masterpiece of the creator. This temple in the Ellora caves has become the world’s largest and immense sculpture. The shrines are the ideal blend of both Hindu and Jain faiths.
